On Websites, In Business and Across Sports – Speed Kills

Speed Kills. So how does this affect your restaurant, healthcare facility, gym, industrial company, commercial laundry or other business type?  Customers demand more efficient processes and faster response time.  Don’t respond to a text message in a few minutes, you’ll likely get a call.  Sit on an email for over a day – you are probably in store for less kind words in the next message.  This is the world we live in. This means we all need to be smarter, more efficient… and FASTER.

How long would you wait for this page to load, 3 seconds?  5?  Research shows likely not 7 seconds.  With each waking day, the answer is less, and less.  The world is advancing almost exponentially and with all this data Speed Kills or it Kills You.

Speed Kills

The Greatest Raider Ever, Al Davis, Coined the Phrase Speed Kills

There are hundreds of factors that can affect your website’s speed.  Server performance, data transfer sizes, server location, users connection speed, browser caching are just a few.  Not every business owner needs to get doctorate degree in Web Speed, but managers should know this is important enough to invest a modest budget to getting it right.

Web Page Speed Test and Pingdom are a few tools you can use to check the site speed and server performance of your company’s website.  Below is an example of a page loading test for our company site www.linenservice.com.  We monitor this regularly to make sure we are exceeding the pace that business is moving at.  Make sure you track your progress with Google Analytics page loading samples.  One potential customer who doesn’t wait for your site to load would have more than paid for your performance improvements.
